FLOCCULENT CONTROL
Typical Clarometer installation on a thickener.
The CLAROMETER provides automatic flocculent control through continuous monitoring of the slurry infeed to a thickener, by repeatedly taking a repesentative sample from the centre well. With the intake complete and held in position the sample will start to settle.
The time taken for the sample to settle is measured and by comparing the measured time with a preset reference time, it is possible to accurately control flocculent dosing. Through two separate algorithms this measurement allows control of both the flocculent and coagulant pumps.
The reliability of our units in very harsh environments is enhanced by our patented method of holding the sample which has no moving parts.
The main advantage of automatic flocculent control is the considerable reduction in flocculent usage, plus the additional benefits of contributing to overall thickener stability by assisting in the reduction of bed level and underflow density variations.
